Heart Stamps

Heart Stamps
Heart Stamps
Setting: Flat surface at home or at school, desk area or table.

Materials:
Paper
Paint
Tape
Paper plate
Empty Toilet Paper Roll

Instructions:
Fold one side of the empty toilet paper role so that it forms a heart shape and put tape across to hold it.
Put paint in a paper plate and put paper out.
Allow the individual to take the empty toilet paper roll and dip it in the paint and place it on the paper to make heart stamps.

Purpose:  The purpose of this activity is to demonstrate regulation of gross motor control to not slam the stamp on the paper with their hand and arm in order to make the stamps look pronounced instead of a paint mess. Fine motor control and grasp are exercised in order for the individual to not drop the stamp and hand muscles are strengthened which will help with fine motor activities of putting on a bracelet and buttoning a shirt. Dexterity could be enforced along with across the body if paper was placed on the non-dominant side forcing them to increase their range of motion in radial or ulnar deviation.
