Cling foil
(surran wrap)
Yarn
1 Glass Bowl
Glitter
Small Toys
(sillybands, small animals, ect)
Paste Mixture
Materials:
1 Glass bowl
2 Cups Cold
water
Hot water
3 TBLS Sugar
½ Cup Flour
Pan
Instructions:
Combine flour and 2 cups of cold water in
a bowl.
Boil 2 Cups water in a pan and add the
flour and cold water mix.
Bring this to a boil.
Remove from heat and add sugar.
Let cool and now you have the paste
mixture.
Lay surran wrap around the inside of the
second bowl.
Add yarn to glue along with as much
glitter and small toys that you would like.
Take yarn and toys out of glue mix and
lay along the bowl.
Allow to dry and remove yarn from surran
wrap bowl and you have a fun sensory toy bowl!
Purpose: Encouraging play with the glue and yarn
allows expansion on the individual’s sense of touch. While the glitter and small
toys act as a visual sensory discovery. Allowing the person to help you with
the bowl creation also improves gross motor activity through stirring the glue
mixture as it is being made. Following a small recipe for glue improves
cognitive skills and problem solving that the person will need either in school
or later in life. This project is great for kids or for those who love to knit
since they can put all their yarn in the bowl after.
