2 TBSP Cooking
oil
1 Cup Warm water
Mixing Bowl

Wax Paper
Food Coloring
Glitter (if

Paper (if using

Markers (if
using recipe card)
Instructions:
1. Using paper
and markers create a recipe card, which tells what the individual needs to do
step
by
step.
2. Add all the
ingredients together in a mixing bowl and mix until consistent.
3. Pour into a
pan and keep stirring until thickened and into a big ball.
4. Place it on
wax paper to cool.
5. Kneed it with
some flour once cooled and add food coloring or glitter to make it more fun!
Purpose: This activity can demonstrate completion
of a task with use of the recipe card. The recipe card also brings sequencing
and numbers into the sensory play of the play-doh. Use of Jello is a way to add
sense of scent and color adds visual aid to the homemade play-doh. Kneading the
play-doh and ripping it apart helps the individual with touch and grasp and
works fine motor skills and hand muscles. Having the individual help you in the
kitchen improves range of motion and gross motor activity along with having
them stir the ingredients can also work on their grasp with use of the spoon.
