Ribbon Dancing


Ribbon Dance
Ribbon
Setting: at home in living room or large area

Materials:
Ribbon
Drumstick
Music

Instructions:
 Play music and allow the individual to dance freely while playing with the ribbon and twirling it all around while the tail of the ribbon dances around and twirls.
 Tell them when there is a change in the song, they have to change hands to dance around with the ribbon.

Purpose: The purpose of this activity is to emphasize the use of dexterity and also the use of gross motor control in the movement and twirling around the room. Balance is needed in order to twirl around the room without falling. Use of the ribbon and the music along with free dancing helps to encourage emotional expression.
